Urban Film Minneapolis Engagement Session
When this couple reached out they wanted vintage, film, candid, urban vibes. This is right up my ally and I had so much fun photographing their engagement session in Downtown Minneapolis.

We first took photos at the ING building. The arches and reflective stone was breathtaking as well as emulates that urban vintage vibe they were wanting.
After that, we walked the streets and headed towards the Hennepin Avenue bridge. A Minneapolis classic, it also has those vintage vibes with art deco touches and the grain belt sign in the background.
Throughout the photography session I used a low aperture and sometimes lower shutter speed to add haze to the images. This makes the photos feel candid and adds in human imperfection. These imperfections add a film-y look as film is less forgiving. This is the beauty of film- you see more of the real, rawness of humans in the images. That’s a tangent for another day though.

We went to a garage roof top after the bridge. There’s nothing cooler or more urban feeling than a skyline background. We had fun running around and adding movement to images. I love adding in action as it helps people loosen up and be more candid in their expressions.
We finished up on a quiet Minneapolis street to get crosswalk photos and a mirror panelled building. I took quite a few film images here- some unintentionally out of focus, again, adding the human experience to the images and honestly I love them.
(Above is a sampling of the film images I delivered from this session.)
Thank you to these two for letting me capture their vision, I can’t wait to capture their wedding this fall.
